No, I haven't bled the top of the radiator.

I took out the heat switch at the bottom to drain it - and that's it.

I couldn't see any pipe / outlet at the top of the radiator.

Where would it be and what does it look like?

I fitted the O ring and some Hermatite and it not leaking now. However, the white reservoir behind the number plate - seems to be always empty. Checked the thermostat, after I removed it and it works fine. However, the seal is still leaking.

Thanks dekhella - I've got a copper pipe now but it's hard to flare the ends properly for VW - as a specialist pipe company explained to me.
