Hi all,
can anyone help please, my husband is fitting a new starting motor & a bush came with it, which said to replace with the old one.
He has taken the old starting motor off but can't see the old one to replace.
he has read from a orange label on solinoid (not sure how that is spelt) he needs to put on a new drive end bush, is this what the bush that came with the starting motor is?
any help appreciated.
thanks Lana

Re: advice with starting motor please
The bush sits in the flywheel bell housing. You can work out where by looking at the shaft end of the starter motor, then figuring out where the hole is that the spigot on the end of the shaft goes.
The old bush can be a pig to get out, there are various ways to do it, check in our wiki (top of every page on here) as iirc there is a full "how to"
Don't forget the bush needs to be soaked in engine oil for at least 24hrs before fitting.

Here is a link to our wiki "How To" https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Pe ... sh_removal" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and = https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Al ... rter_motor" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
p.s. - Important = don't forget to disconnect the battery before going near the starter motor with anything metal !!
Oh and tell him not to "try out" the starter motor when off the vehicle as doing so will damage it !

Re: advice with starting motor please
Thanks again for all the advice, he had it all on okay & then turned the key & just the clicking noise, not good.
He did wonder if it was a dud starting motor he'd got & started cursing.
Then he double checked as he was sure he had 3 things to reconnect & yep he'd not done 1 of them
i'll try to remember to check on wiki first, but when something is wrong with the van its like when one of the kids are ill, i start to panic.
Thanks again Lana
