Central locking

Post by Taw Cottage »

Hi Guys

Have just discovered, after 6 years of ownership, that my 1990 Westy has cental locking

It obviously doesn't work, so I'm hoping that you can point me in the right direction to find the possible cause.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Is it origional?

I've answered a few posts about CL, so worth a search.

Usually (IMO) the door motors sieze, they are easy to strip down, and cleaning the contacts may help.
Sometimes the sliding contact that powers the other doors fails, it is supported on two tiny springs that the rust fairy steals.

Cheers Tony.

Yes, the system is original equipment.

Will follow your advice and see if I get a result.

Thanks

I have one of my units out of the van at the moment, so I'll take some photos tomorrow and post them up.

Thanks for your help guys

Found the actual fuse was missing, once replaced, the drivers door and sliding door worked fine, the tailgate locked and wouldn't unlock........had to remove interior panel.....plastic plugs a nightmare  ....a bit of cleaning and greasing eased the mechanism and it now works fine :D However, the passenger door actuator was full of crud inside and basically knackered.......so replacement actuator required
