Hi, does any body know where I find the engine number on the block of a 1.9 watercooled?
I've had a good look and could not find it.

And if it is not there and looks like it has been ground off, it may be a re-con engine at some point. When VW used to supply re-con engines they ground the original number off and stamped a "VW" logo in a circle there, plus a 4 digit code.
Aside = It would be interesting, if anyone knows, what other re-con firms do with engine numbers ?
