12 volt plugs

Post by mikey »

Got this socket in my recently acquired 1986 autosleeper hi-top. I've also got a number of appliances that have a cigarette lighter plug.

I want to rewire the appliances with plugs to fit this socket, but can't for the life of me find anywhere to buy a plug from. Can anyone help? Socket is about 12mm diameter and I've never seen one before.

Failing getting hold of plugs, can I get a converter?

Don't want to have to replace what seems to be a perfectly good socket with a cigarette lighter with attendant fire risks.

You can change the plugs on all appliances to plugs that fit both the autosleeper socket and ciggy lighter type sockets. BUT much easier just to get an adapter lead - about £6 fom some camping stores - or look at Leisurepower.co.uk for example.

Mikey,
If you go to www.leisurepower.co.uk. and search for LP-ADP-5, (Adaptor, Continental type 12volt Plug to Cigar Socket)

Thanks for the link Brian (vwsween). Or try Here, you may find what you need. I got a plug from Autosleepers themselves as like you I had never seen one, and have wired my own telephone type cable and ciggy lighter socket to provide an extension.
Cheers
Mike
