Gearbox problem

Post by yorkie »

Driving home for lunch today and I was unable to select 2nd and 4th gears. The gearbox seems to have gone a lot looser than before and just generally feels different when I move the stick around. Also, it's difficult to get it out of reverse gear.

I hope my gearbox isn't knackered. Anybody experienced this or something similar?

1990 1.6 TD.

Given that several gears are a problem I would be suspicious that your linkage needs some TLC - worn bits renewing and/or some readjustment - Haynes is actually quite good on how to adjust it.
