Considering replacing your Engine

Post by dickspanner »

Hello,

Simple really if you are considering replacing your engine with a different power plant then anything is possible.

You can get conversion plates from Germany or America to convert any engine to a VW box.

The more complex the conversion the more hours you are going to end up spending on it and the more hassle you will have.

I put a V6 24v 2.9i litre Cosworth engine in my crewcab because someone said it could not be done.

A few people had done it but info was very scarse on the subject and I ended up of Cosworth forums, scorpio forums etc and got a lot of help from there as well as here.

I am now at a point where the crewcab is being sold this summer and basically I am going to remove all my hardwork from the crewcab and restore it back to a normal VW engine powered crewcab as it has a bigger market for selling and I can sell it for more money as a stock unit.

If you want to do a crazy conversion and put 220bhp through your back wheels and travel at speeds like the USS Enterprise then the full conversion will be offered up for sale which you can bolt up, plug in and go. I would imagine a competant mechanic could do the whole install in a weekend.

If anybody on here is taking out a full set up, eg everything in the engine bay and wants to sell it as a full lump then I have put a wanted add in the wanted section or PM me.

Cheers

And good luck with your conversions.
