OK
I have a 1.7 (or 1.6. Not sure cos I think it's been changed) diesel and want to fit a golf ahu lump.
Done it already on my T4 and happy to do it on the T25
Question tho. Does the ahu mate to the existing gearbox as is, or do I need an adaptor plate?
Thanks in anticipation

Hello Dic...
ahu engine code from experience is a 1.9tdi...there is plenty of info on tdi conversions here wiki etc..you can also try Brickwerks...There is no mention of adaptor plates as far as I have seen.. gearbox and clutch needs consideration....

Yes the AHU will fit onto a standard diesel bell housing. Fiting a tdi requires a fair bit of work but is possible. I have a few pics on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 534&type=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Fair bit of work I don't mind. I love the flexibility of the engines and their economy.
Not doing it till later in the year unless it all goes wrong before
Thanks chaps

Re: Engine to Gearbox querie
Remember if you go TDi... then you will need to do something with the gearing.. ie a re ratio'd gearbox.. as the TDi doesnt like to rev like the old TD's....

Re: Engine to Gearbox querie
i will address the ratios at a later date.
Only ever use it for local stuff and just want something that has some guts............apart from the new Immortals film.............
I presume the final drive from the engine to the gearbox is not a problem
Also what clutch and flywheel setup is anyone using. Presuming tdi clutch, original flywheel ??
Thanks in advance

The answers are prob in one of the several TDi posts on here...
