hi all
Bought a Rock & Roll bed off e bay but the brown plastic coating was peeling. After reading online camper and bus they used a wire wheel on a drill which they said takes hours.
Tried this and they were right, all it did was smudge the coating, out came the angle grinder and I managed to do the back rest section of the seat in 2 hrs. Then a nieghbour looked over the fence who is like the 'Only Me' charactor off Harry Enfield 'Oh you don't want to grind it off oh no you want to burn it off thats what you want to do burn it off'. So I borrowed a blow torch off my dad whos a gas fitter this melted it into a black smelly gloop. Whilst scraping off the gloop with a stanley knife i noticed the knife scraping back to bare metal. I clamped the frame in a work mate then ran the knife flat like peeling potatoes. The plastic came off in big long pieces leaving nice clean metal behind, in fact I only had to do one side of each box section and the rest peeled like a banana. seat base and the seat itself 1 hour, just have to paint it now, hope this helps someone else
