What a bunch of "Balls". I recently changed my daily and what a pain it is now.
If you buy privately and have a car to sell privately.
1. To transfer the NCD you have to un-insure the old car.
2. If you un-insure the old car you have to SORN it.
3. If you SORN it you have to keep it off the public highway.
4. If you SORN it nobody can test drive it.
5. If it isn't taxed and can't be test driven nobody wants it.
The DVLA and the crooks that sell insurance have made it impossible to change your car unless you buy from a garage and virtually give away the car on a crap Part ex deal.
Rant over.
Anyone tried to buy a car lately?

Re: Anyone tried to buy a car lately?
You can have a two motorbike policy, dont think you can do this with a car.
The problem comes when your insurer does not cover your new car and you cant transfer it over.
When you buy a new car the manufacturer will often include a weeks free insurance due to the number of people that crash the car on it's first drive, and have not sorted the insurance.
The other thing now is that you cant drive someone else's car on your fully comp 'allowed to drive other vehicles' policy if that car is not insured in it's own right.
Talking to Glynwoods or any broker might provide a solution.

Yup with you there Rob.
Too much bloody bureaucracy all round in this country.
I hate the bloody SORN thing ffullstop. Makes owning classic vehicles a nightmare. Especially when you end up with breakers for parts.
Met a gut the otherday who has to keep a spreadsheet just ro keep up with them all.

I think a lot of UK industries/companies with a captive market don't care for there customers or there customers needs anymore.
If i didn't do what my customers needed or wanted I wouldn't have any customers, simple. not so with the insurance industry we legally must have there product in place if we want to drive a vehicle.
Welcome to England 2012.
got a headache now.

Re: Anyone tried to buy a car lately?
Twiggy you've started me off now. I have never had good service from a VW garage in the UK over the past 30 years. Which is why I do not use them anymore. However, I have had excellent service from (many) VW garages on the continent. Why is that? No customer care training?
Also my daughter Jo pointed out the poor service standards in our football club shop (QPR). Staff busy chatting rather than focussing on customers. The only place that I have noticed excellent service is our match day pub, where the staff are polite and you always get served quickly. This seems a rare experience.
