Water pump replacement

Post by mirams »

Hi all,

Haven't been on here for while (nothing's been going wrong!). But just thought I would say thanks for putting up all this stuff on the wiki and forums, it just sorted out my latest problem.

A noise that sounded like rocks in a blender started coming from the engine (2.1 DJ), so I feared the worst, but after a search on here Steve Shaw had suggested running it for a few seconds with the fan belt off to see if it was the water pump. The noise went away and it was obvious the water pump pulley was wobbly. So it was definitely the problem. A bit more searching told me replacing it wasn't too bad a job, and it also fitted in with my symptoms of an unexplored slow coolant leak from somewhere there too!! (see e.g. this thread)

Brickwerks had a new one with me within 2 days. Fitted it yesterday and it's good as new now :).

Cheers everyone!

Gary
