How on earth do I remove the seats?

So today, I tried to clean up the front on the cab.

I managed to get the front rubber carpet stuff out easy enough.
In the passenger side footwell, underneath the carpet is some kind of filler cap. Does anyone know what this is for?


Then went to take out the front passenger seat.
I have absolutely no idea hot get the thing off! There seems to be no visible nuts or screws. The seat doesn't slide forewards or backwards!

So, how do I get the thing off?

Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Slide the seat as far forward as it will go, then look to the rear of the slider (Opposite to the lever for forward/backward adjustment) where you will find a little catch. With the seat fully forward, lift up this catch whilst pulling the seat forward, and the seat will come off its rails. Micky's top tip, did you know you can refit your passenger seat facing backwards in the same way you would fit if normally back in place? Takes a couple of minutes. Ideal for when you stop for an extended picnic etc

E D I T, just re-read your post. Have you located the correct lever for the adjustment fwd/bckw? It may not have its plastic handle as they commonly fall off, so you should be looking for a thin metal bar on the central area of the lower side of the front seat. Not sure if RHD are the same as mine (LHD), but the lever is opposite side to the back rest adjustment.

The filler cap you discovered Pete is for your windscreen washers, and headlight washers if fitted

There is a leaver on one side that reclines the backrest, and another lever on the other side that doesn't seem to do anything. I think this must be the slide leaver you refer to.

I'll give it another crack tomorrow!

Bear in mind that T25 seats will rarely move if you are stood outside the vehicle and just trying to push them forwards or backwards.

The appropriate technique is to sit in the seat and employ a vigorous 'humping' action to make it go forwards.

As others have said, when you get to the front of the travel, there is a catch which stops it falling off the rails. You need to lift this catch to remove the seat

Hi There, The lever to remove the seat isn't on the side of the seats like the ones to recline or move seat forwards or back. The 'Latch 'to remove the seat is a very small sprung catch right down by the actual slide rails . Fully slide seat forwards then look at the back of the slides you should see it ,it's only on one side. note though sometimes you need to move the seat back a fraction to let the latch move. Hope this helps

It's true I was stood on the outside trying to move the seat. i'll try the "humping" action tomorrow lol.

Screen wash phooey, this is where you put the dilithium crystal solution, but only 10%, cos these old buses get severe scuttle shake above warp factor 3

Another question sorry.

In the rear of the cab, the floor is wooden. It looks like it's damp and has rotted. Is this wooden floor standard, or has it been added at some point in history?




If it's not standard, and I take it up, what should I be expecting to see underneath it?

I don't think that wood is OE, so therefore if I were you, I would get it up right away, and get rid of the soaked crap it is. Underneath you will simply find the bare metal floor, which hopefully isn't corroded too much. Then once you have found where the water is coming from, you can fix that, then start to refit the floor in a more suitable covering. Search the forums on insulation, lining, and fitting, theres loads of options.

So the flooring came out today! That was quite easy, quick pry with a long screwdriver and up it came. The underlay though, was more difficult. It has stuck to the metal floor so took a little scraping!

But none the less...


But I have, once again, been defeated by the seats! I did manage to slide the seat forward, and then found what I think is the latch that was referred to:



But I just can't get the thing to move! It's tricky sitting on the seat, with my knees bashing into the glovebox and the van shaking, trying to hold the latch up!

Should this be easy, or does it sound like there is something getting in the way etc?
