Seat Belt Removal Help

Post by dazzler441 »

Hello, I've bought from Fleabay some seatbelt covers for the belt reel that attaches to the pillar behind each seat. I need to get the seatbelt reel off of the van to fit but I've noticed that the casing has some strange shaped screws that I've not seen before. They are shaped like so, but joined in the middle (stickman body with the legs attached):

I can't use a flathead and was wondering whether anybody had any idea where I can get a tool to get these screws out.
Thanks in advance.

Is it like a Merc sign? What size are they because I have a camera screwdriver that shape but it's the size of a precision driver.

Thanks for the response and yes it looks exactly like a Merc sign. My pic was better in the preview, but changed after it was submitted.
I will have a look at camera tools to see if I can find something.

I can lend you one rather than buy it for one job. PM your address and I'll stick it in the post.

Go to halfords and purchase a full set of screw driver bits, They come in a blue case, complete with every screwdriver bit you'll ever need! They're only 12.99 http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165557" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Although im pretty sure if you undo those screws you shall receive a massive shower of coiled steel spring! So be careful!

Are they the large caravelle seat belt covers you are on about?

If so the cover just goes around the
original reel. Just unbolt the reel from the B pillar. Drill off for the upper retaining screw on the new cover mount plates and then refit the metal mount plate with the reel using the bolt and a screw in the upper hole and then the plastic cover just pops on the metal retaining plate
