Finally started my interior for the van :) RESTO STARTED

Post by James.rigby »

Hi all i bought my first panel van around a month back but have only just started on doing something actually to it. with hopefully my paint job being arranged for start of march (might try and roller to be honest with this recession) i thought i should move my lazy ar** and get something done. so last weekend i headed off into town to find some timber. i managed to source some 6mm brizilian plywood for a reasonable price. I had been given a roll of thermofoil insulation and after getting the ply sheets cut down to fit into my car i headed back to the van fully equipped oh and of course the crate of beer to assist me in my nights events. once i got into the swing of things i managed to get a considerable amount done.

Friday night i cut the rear panels for the lining to attatch to and fitted them also lined the whole van with my thermofoil and then downed tools and headed n for the night.

Saturday day i managed to get the ply onto the floor boards and cut the ply for the back of the seat boxes. also insulated the roof and began to try and sort out the sunroof which my predecessor had used vast amounts of sealent in to keep it water tight. with all the sealent removed and sunroof cleaned i had a pror arrangement with the pub so downed tools and headed for a clean up.

Sunday afternoon after recovering from the night befores antics i headed up to the van with my fuzzy head in toe! i rummaged through the cage of spares and dragged out the tow bar and after a sanding down it was ready for paint.

Today i nipped into halfords for some black paint and found myself in no time buying some space blanket insulation ( the foil backed stuff) once painted the tow bar i put the second layer of insulation down. floor got another layer of thermofoil before i aply the floor but that is the last thing. I also measured up the steel frame bed which i plan on making tomorrow after work.

Thanks for reading through my post and i will upload some pictures when i have found out how to! Computer technology isnt my strong point.

p.s if anyone could advise me on putting up pics would be appreciated as i have tried to upload an attatchment but its to big :? Now im lost!!

Copy the IMG code mate. It's the bottom one of the 4 codes that appear when you hover your cursor over the picture you wish to post.

This will put the picture directly onto your thread. Jon.

Update:

Nothing much really has happened over the past few days apart from making my steel bed frame just trying to figure out what brackets to use. I have just recieved my front carpets and have roof lining on the way! i will post the pictures of the frame when i take one tomorrow in work.

if anyone knows of good suitable cheapish hinges for the beds would be much appreciated. many thanks

Hi all just a quick update.

Nothing much has happened these past month or so due to me leaving the army so spending all my time packing etc BUT last night i achieved a big milestone on the van. I finished the bed frame off with all the timber sheeting cut to size to cover the frame. I have also made my under bed storage compartment and last but no means least i have fitted subaru legacy seats to my van. :ok :ok looks amazing Let me know what you think.

James, for the floor of your van. Did you put the wood down first then the insulation or the other way round? Thanks
