Broken Spring

Found this spring broken and partly attached to the engine, where the accelerator cable attaches. Any one know what it does and where I can get another one from? Everything seems to be running fine without it, but it might be important!

The engine is a 2.1 MV

It's the throttle return spring. Discontinued from VW but it is worth trying Martins in Old Basing they might have one left on the shelf or do a dealer search. Part no 022129881G. A quick search didn't bring up any UK suppliers only in the USA otherwise S/H or adapt another spring.

Checked with the dealers - it went out of production in 2007, and there is no stock. He suggested fleabay or making one up myself - cheers!
