Dipstick Temp Guage

Post by wehey »

Hiya all,

I recently ordered a dipstick temp guage from JK for my 2L 1980 Aircooled.

All the parts arrived except the dipstick whick was out of stock and is on back order. Ive phoned a couple of times to check on its progress but the last bloke i spoke to told me that the dipstick will not be long enough for my van and so it was pointless sending it to me.

Have i been miss informed or is this true. I need one fitted for 2 weeks time as im planning a trip away!!! The kit i ordered is J11685

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Neal

Usually JK confusion then..
Why do (well they used too) they list a kit for the 2L if it doesnt fit!!!

If it were me I would ring up and ask to speak to the top man.. make a bit of noise and ask if it doesnt fit, why do they sell it..

Sump sender isnt gonna be as good..

Better off getting a head temp gauge kit (dont think JK do them, maybe speak to LAPerformance/John Maher etc), the one with the sender that fits under the spark plug works best, this will give you a better idea of the engine load and then you can ease off the throttle when the head temps climb..

DO NOT stop and switch off when its hot.. better to pull over and keep the engine running on a fast idle, this will cool the engine very quickly..

Ive just spoken to JK and they have confirmed that the kit listed for the 1980 Aircooled doesnt actually fit !!!!!!

I will look into a different one from the sites mentioned.

Thanks for the help so far !!
