MOROCCO TOUR 2012
Hi all
After the success of the Picos tour I'm now planning a 2 week tour of Morocco over Christmas & New Year 2012. Already found a reliable local guide at a very reasonable price.
Please let me know if you fancy joining me. Go on you know you want to!!!!!
Cheers
Rob

Re: MOROCCO TOUR 2012
Hi Jed
Before Christmas we were visited by friends of ours from Australia who were coming to the end of their World tour. Before us they had three very enjoyable weeks in Morocco. During this time they employed a local guide to show them around for a week. They were very happy with his services as he took them to places that only a man with local knowledge would know about. I've also had two trips to Morocco on my mountain bike and have always wanted to return.
My idea is head over to Morocco for Christmas and New Year. I've always believed that having a guide is the best to go so intend to employ my friends guide for the whole trip.
Don't have a route in mind yet, suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: MOROCCO TOUR 2012
I'll also get in touch with my friend at Wildcat Bike Tours. Looking at his website he now organises off-road motorbike tours of Morocco;
http://www.wildcat-motorbike-tours.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'll speak to him and get some ideas of routes, etc. He might also be able to organise the trip for us but this would probably be a little more expensive than doing it ourselves!!

Totally, to be honest i'd rather it was longer. Seems a shame to drive all that way for little time.
Think Santander ferry would be the logical way to do it.

Re: MOROCCO TOUR 2012
It all depends on where it starts and ends. I totally agree that having a guide has it benefits when split between the size of group that was on The Picos trip, especially that these days in Morocco. It seems to be quite over crowded with motor home owners from Germany and Netherlands in the winter with all the coffin dodgers cashing in their winter fuel allowance, so to get away from it all takes a little more effort. If you are to check out any of the piste driving if it ends down south or in the west (no unleaded petrol available in Western Sahara by the way) then an extended trip to Mauritania and do the famous beach drive could be an option for anyone interested.

Received an e-mail from my friend at Wildcat Adventures. He can't do anything over christmas but he is organising a 15 day trip in October which we're welcome to join. I've asked him to give me a price exluding accommodation and meals. Details can be found at;

Re: MOROCCO TOUR 2012
Would be on for it ! IMHO One doesn''t really need a guide for morocco did most of wildcats route in a rental car luckily enough they didn't check underneath when we brought it back
With a group of syncros it would be quite easy to go wherever we want to also lots of Offroad trails on the web such as these http://www.wikiloc.com/trails/offroading/morocco" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and know of a few v nice auberges and riads over there also you can find local guides on the ground if needed. With a bit of research and consultation with the French, Spanish and german syncronauts I'm sure we could easily come up with an itinery that would suit everyone for the Xmas period and for a lot less ££'s

Re: MOROCCO TOUR 2012
To be honest a trip over the Christmas and New Year holidays would suit me a lot better due to school holidays. Also want to keep October free just in case some of you want to go back to the Picos.
Maybe we could do a combined Picos, Southern Spain and Morocco trip. Now that's an idea!!!!
