'Inherited' a minor leak on 2 speed Fan Switch temprarily fitted instead of 3 speed fan switch, fitted correct new 3 Speed Fan switch but cannot tighten as threads partly stripped, will leak, tried sealing with red plumbing compound and removong crush washer to give more thread but still weeping.
Cooling system airlocks eventually and requires regular bleeding.
Now the problem is that the Radiator tank onto which the Fan switch (25mm?) threads is plastic.... same thread strip has happened to Bleed screw but its seals ok...at present (at least i can rethread this to next bigger size even though its plastic also).
Rather then take out and replace Radiator which is in very good condition otherwise...any ideas on a better fix then i have?
Interestingly.... the Oil Sump nut was way overtighned....seems people dont like to rely on new crush washer or a bit of PTFE tape but would rather risk stripped threads due to overtighnening
