Reving
Hi guys. I have a 2.0L 1981 air cooled. When I turn the engine on it runs nicely. When I a drive it all is ok. After several minutes when I stop at lights is will sometimes start ticking over realy high like it is racing,so high that I can pull away without using the accelerator just the clutch, sometimes it will run fine. It appears to be that the longer I use it the more it will start racing. I am only doing small journeys say 15 mins at the moment. The idle regulater thingy has been isolated defore I bought it. Apart from not stopping at lights what can I do about it and what would cause it? I thought it may be the accelerator cable sticking someware! Any thoughts?
If in doubt give it a clout!

Re: Reving
I went to see Steve 80/90 to try and sort it out once and for all. It apears that the accelerator cable was too short by several inches so a metal rod was used to extend it. The right hand carb had the solenoid removed and a brass bolt inserted. The linkage that joins the two carbs together had been messed with and was a sloppy fit so right hand was not getting the full movement, and one of the breather pipe conectors was defective so that would explain it! BIG BIG diference so it just goes to show that putting your hand in your pocket from time to time and let the experts do there thing usually pays off. Big thanx Steve if you read this. It has made a masive diference.
