zig cf6

Post by billybigspud »

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone had come across this before.
I have a zig cf6 and have just finished the 230v in the van. Switched it on to feed the zig unit and i have got the 14v coming from terminal 4. This means, according to the wiki drawing that the crank battery is getting charged.
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ca ... _Zig_Units" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My battery was dead as a dodo and was most surprised when the stereo came on which is run from the crank and not the auxillary battery. I belled the cables out to make sure and it is how it is.
Sooo, is my zig wired wrong or is the drawing wrong?
Doesnt make much difference as i can just swap em round as the split charge is just a make and break switch in the zig. ( which i always forget and leave on )

Terminal 4 is the positive feed to the leisure battery not the starter battery. The Zig does not charge the starter battery - it just allows you to run the camper lights etc off the starter battery in an emergency where your leisure battery has failed or gone flat

The clock and ICE station memory are fed continuously off the starter battery (via fuse 3 on a late van). The clock shouldn't drink much but some ICE memory can slurp a bit.

got one of those multi 12v plug things on the dash as well with a battery health indicator on em. Drains after about 2 weeks so it is small. just fitted a commando socket on the outside of the house so i can plug the old girl in. usually have a decent drive to where ever we are going so gives the leisure battery a good chance to charge and never really use it except lighting so gonna leave it that way round. stereo is on the starter battery and that gets used the most so will probably work out well.
try not to use hook ups anyway. never used one to date :ok
