Have a look on the Brick-yard, there is a truck full of info about this - http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/t3-pe ... rum22.html

Re: gti engine which car ?
Any will do TBH 2e/AGG etc. Mk2 2 Pb is easiset install wiring wise but have just done the loom for a mate who was installing an AGG and its not too much work BUT loads more wires etc and have to give it lots of thought to get a neat/factory looking loom so it dosnt look like a dogs dinner.
Various interference issues depending on engine/manifold.
Loads of info on yard, lots have done it to 'pick brains'

Re: gti engine which car ?
ace thank you am thinking mk3 post 1995 so that is aag i think unless anyother engine was installed too and yeah wiring aint really an isssue i have got someone who is "pooh" at electrics to help with that was just wondering which engine/year would be compatiable as i have already been stitched up once with a badone.
and yeah have been looking there seems to be tons of info all i am looking for now is really exactly what deisl bits are needed, i have the bars, mounts, bell housing and sump i know i need the starter but am not sure what else.
also i am not quite understanding the whole issues with the two pumps, what is exactly needed ect ...

Re: gti engine which car ?
right okay I thought I had it all sussed out and all I need was the deisel water pipes but after reading.another thread they are talking about deisil input shafts, is this from the gear box? do I have to have it rebuilt with the deisil impute shaft or wont the one from my petrol gear box go.straight in? also what are they talking about with the "pooh" plate? where dose it go? what dose it do? is it needed? ...... also what clutch/flywheel set up should I use?

Re: gti engine which car ?
Hello,
you can use a petrol gearbox, but you need the diesel bellhousing to mate up to the 2E or AGG engine, and a diesel input shaft to mate up with the clutch- the flywheel cover plates you need are to protect it and the clutch from mud etc. from the road. Brickwerks do them for the TDi set up, not sure if these will do correctly for the 2E/AGG - someone more knowledgable about this conversion will be able to tell you I'm sure.

hope that helps a bit

Re: gti engine which car ?
right okay so what i need is to have a desil box to bits have the input shaft out and then have my petrol box to bits and put it in that ? and ah i see that makes more sense now. dose the bell housing not get compleatly covered by the block then ? see there has been no mention of this on any other conversion thread, only on one thread that cropped up.
and yeah this has shead some light on the topic but still has left me with a few questions
cheers dan

Re: gti engine which car ?
The petrol gearbox is not exactly taken to bits only the bell housing removed and replaced with a diesel one. When the petrol bell housing it taken off the input shaft can be undone and changed for a diesel input shaft.I suggest you search the forums for more details how to do this as incorrect fitting for the input shaft can cause problems.Aidan the gearbox man may come along and advice.
Re: gti engine which car ?
yeah i undersand now i was getting a bit confused with it but yeah i understand now. the onl problem i really face is trying to find a donor car now and this is where i am starting to hit a bick wall with it i will list below what i have found with trawling the web:
seat ibiza
2E fitted 06/1993-04/1996
AGG fitted 04/1996-05/1998
seat toleado
2E fitted 09/1991-03/1996
AGG fitted 03/1996-04/1999
vw corrado
2E fitted 09/1993-11/1994
mk3 golf
2E fitted 10/1991-09/1994
AGG fitted 10/1995-10/1997
mk3 golf variant
2E fitted 11/1993-09/1994
AGG fitted 10/1995-06/1999
mk3 passat
2E fitted 10/1990-11/1993
vento
2E fitted 04/1992-09/1994
AGG fitted 10/1995-11/1998
now all that is okay and i have a few cars to choose from but when i was looking for these engine codes to car years ect there is also two more 8v 115bhp 2.0 ltr engines fitted at the same times as some of these ... ADY code fitted to mk3 golfs 10/1994-02/1996 and in the mk3 golf variant 10/1994-09/1995 and also AKR engine code fitted to the mk3 variant 06/1997-06/1999. now these over lap with the 2E and the AAG engines and knowing my luck i will end up with one of these which i dont want right ? or are they all made from the same block ? (engine mounts in the same place ect ) or have i just got this completly wrong and they are not fitted ?
i am just after some light to shed on this because i cannot find anything on it in the forums and i dont want to end up with an engine that wont fit
any help would be great
cheers

Re: gti engine which car ?
also do you need to run it all through the golf fuse box ?
cheers

Re: gti engine which car ?
You will be fine with an ADY, I have one sat here ready to go in my van very soon.

Re: gti engine which car ?
ah good well that is another thing cleared up, going to try to buy the whole car rather than buying an engine, loom, ecu ect sepperatly should work out cheeper if i can find a fairly low millage one plus the looms on ebay dont look big enough to be complete tbh
cheers

Re: gti engine which car ?
Dont have to use golf fusebox although a couple of chaps have. On my 2e/PB it was 2 relays and helluva lot easier wiring as stand alone harness.
Just did an AGG for a mate , alot more work involved (one harness you have to unpick and more involved relays/wiring) but not overly complicated if you get your head into it.
AGG was 3 relays and a 3 way auxilliary fusebox mounted in engine bay. Only wire you have to run to front of van is for the immobiliser (and VSS if you install it) all the rest you can safely (and neatly) run of existing engine bay feeds.

Re: gti engine which car ?
ah that is great thank you, clear that up nicely i am after doing an agg conversion idealy for clearance issues and for a slightly newer engine. i am not overly conserend about wiring because i have got a mate to sort that out for me who is abosolutly awesome with wiring but i thought i would ask about the fusebox because i just wanted a basic idea of what would be happening.
elvis you seem to be a fella that knows what he is doing with these conversions, would you be able to pm me some contact deatails incase i run into problems so you could tell me where i am going wrong or give me a bit of a step by step that would be great cheers haha

Re: gti engine which car ?
I'm now embarking down this route.
Currently my van is a 2.1DJ powered Syncro with AAN/ADH box and diff codes and the 4.85 final drive.
I've picked up a 1998 Golf GTI Colour Concept with an AGG engine fitted.
I'm wanting to run 195R15 tyres if possible. I'm not sure how the match of the 2.0l I4 AGG will work with this setup.
Elvis, given that I have amassed most of the extra conversion parts required can you advise on the wiring? Ideally I would like to be able to plug it into VAGCOM for later tuning but from the threads I have read am unsure which wiring method best facilitates this. I have a '2E' distributor available also.
Some have mentioned the Mk2 GTI 'PB' head and fuel system, Digifant etc.
So is there a basic 'Mk2' route AND one using the existing 'Mk3' ECU and parts?
Fitting an upgrade cam and better induction could improve power slightly as in most Golfs. I'm just uncertain which combination of parts will work best.
