The 80-90 ClubStuff link has download pdf sections from the Bentley manual that you need for the autobox
There is only one band to adjust on the 090 box and is for 2nd gear and you need a small torque wrench
I'm looking at doing the same so have looked around at info on web and forums - Bentley, Volkszone, 80-90 etc
New change of AFT Dex 2 is needed every 30,000 or when discoloured or suspecting problems.

Re: automatic transmission bands adjustment
thanks for that link
it confirmed what a friend had told me the torque settings were, just wasnt sure he had give me the right info as 87pound per foot seemed a lot,
wasnt aware the adjustment was for second gear only though
the very slight problem i have is
my auto box changes real nice when it is warm, but when it is cold i feel it could change from 1st to 2nd a lot sooner
anyone else experienced this or have any ideas
thanks

Re: automatic transmission bands adjustment
Have you changed the ATF fluid - important first step before any other
Re: automatic transmission bands adjustment
yep , changed twice now , just to be sure, and have also put an additive in recomended by an auto gearbox specialist,

Re: automatic transmission bands adjustment
Hi,
What speed are you doing when it changes up?
Don't forget that you have some control on change up speed depending on your foot pressure on the accelerator pedal ie heavy pressure means higher change up speed.
I have always been wary of putting in additives.

thanks for the reply
i take into acount what you are saying about foot pressure, i find if i keep a constant foot pressure it doesnt want to change from 1st to second unless i ease off the throttle or it reaches a speed /revs where it sounds/feels too high
if i ease off and it goes into second gear as soon as i put my foot down it opts for 1st gear again
(2nd to 3rd gear change is ultra smoth , sometimes unoticable)
i feel that when the van is warm the 1st to 2nd gear engages at a lower engine speed
i agree with you about additives but it came higjly recomended ,and was not the thick treacle type but thin and very similar to the atf fluid, the reason for putting it in in was to soften up seals that may have gone hard - as the van had been standing for awhile
