I use my bus as a daily drive & on evening pizza delivery drops. Half the time getting out of drives is just guess-work!
What is the neatest way of getting extra light?
Thinking to add them in the empty compartment above the existing reverse light. Anyone done it? Can you just up-rate bulbs?
If adding extra lamp on bumper, can I just wire into existing reverse power? No problem with wiring/fuse? What watt can I go to?
Also can you retro fit heaters to syncro mirrors?
Would make more sense to rig this up so you can clip in an additional reversing light just for the evening job and do it on a relay basis to cover an additional drain (same way you'd add spotlamps up front basically) - either that or use one of those big LED arrays (maintenance type torch comes to mind) that runs off the same circuit. If you uprate existing bulbs too much it generates heat and can melt lenses. The clip-on or temporary concept would keep you out of bother on MOTs. Most of the time you wouldn't need that much light.
Food for thought anyway.

It wouldn't be wise to put in a larger wattage bulb, you may find that the lens will melt. I added two additional back-up lamps to my Westy, they are on the trailer hitch. Have also seen pics of a bumper mounted drive/fog lamp mounted beside the licence plate flap.
I fitted 21w halogen bulbs which make a big improvement enough to reverse around the inlaws unlit farmyard. But like oldie says an IR reversing camera is a good option, had to fit one to the car as manufactures now seem to think one reversing light is good enough.

That's because the more bumps & scraps you have the better it is for them!!
Like Kev has done, I fitted a spotlamp on the back bumper on the van I used to have.
But as I was in Australia, it wasn't for reversing out of tight driveways, it was to scare the killer kangaroos out of the way.
