Oil in coolant :{

Post by wee bugger »

So i need to use van after its been sat for a month. Running fine prior to that and just was not required, so sat in drive. As it had been sitting, i stuck battery on charge, and checked oil (ok) coolant level in expansion tank (ok) and went to check level in header tank, and as i unscrewed dalek cap thick black oil came out. :cry:

know it cant be good, so what should next steps be?

not mechanically minded, so be gentle please

Thanks in advance

Sorry, can't really help then .... sounds like a head gasket or the oil cooler/warmer if it was on a VW petrol inline 4 or wbxer with oil cooler but d****ls are out of my comfort zone.

There is an oil cooler on my 1.6D. Likely candidate.Check if you have a large lump of aluminium with connections to the water system between the oil filter and the gubbins attached to the block.

Common failing on Golf/Scirocco/Jettas which is same oil cooler as the T25 wbxer (possibly same as yours ? ) ours went on the Scirocco a few months back with the symptoms you described .... hence why I suggested it.

Here's the standard cross-range one for the cars mentioned above .. http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Oil ... geToLoad=1

GSF also sell them.
