HELP Starter motor bush

What am I doing wrong?

got the old one out but can't get new one in

so far bust three trying

now got more on order from VW but won't get here till Tuesday

soaked bush in oil for 24 hrs

I've got a long bolt put a nut and washer on and then the bush

then lined it up as best as possible and tried to tap in with hammer but all

I end up with is a mashed bush

What engine and starter set up do you have, Matt?

I seem to recall it's not quite standard.

If you're struggling to get the new bush in it sounds like there might be some of the old one left. Either that, or it's a different size bush...........

I've got an 1800 golf/audi engine

would I be better off asking for a bush for one of them

rather than t25 transporter I thought it wouldn't have mattered

I've checked the hole a dozen times for any bits but definately none left in

I've phoned VW dealership and given them my Starter motor number

only problem is they can't get the bush till Tuesday then I have to soak it

in oil 24 hrs and wanted to go away Friday

just realised my bell housing will have been swapped ?

I thought it was the original but it won't be will it?

Anyway phoned a Bosch motor Factor and he says it is different and has one in stock

so will go up this morning
