Water tank or storage? Help.

Post by KEN-M »

Bought my 1980 t25 with every intention of making a profit-so what happened I could see my self on the
motorway going on my holidays in it so I decided to keep it.
She cost me £500 and now is stripped right down and costing a fortune up to now ive bought
4 new shocks
4 wheel bearings
full lengh water pipes
2 new captains chairs
ordered new interior and all new units
smev hob sink/hob and smev oven/grill
new steering wheel and housing
tow bar
sliding window and much more.
So my dilemma is this do i keep the autohomes water tank which is pretty big
or build a unit and new r/r bed.
what would you do? I feel this van has taken over my life but I can see my holiday next year being a good one.

Hello and welcome.

It depends how much water your going to use and how often you can fill up!

I generally work out 4 litres a day for the three of us and that is usually about right! At the moment I am taking bottled water, I had the same dilema about water tank size and it using a lot of storage in the van - but I have bought a water tank to fit under my R&R bed

Get a CAK tanks underslung tank ... 55 litres will last a week of normal brewing up and cooking pasta/rice, washing etc.

I have the Autohomes tank under the rear seat - hardly as surprise since I have an Autohomes Komet. I like it; it's out of the way and 60ltrs of water lasts a fair time even with washings up. I don't miss the space as there's tons of space in all the other cupboards. But if that's not what you want, sling it on ebay.....

As Ian says you can go to caktanks.co.uk OR try Lesiure Shop Direct who are cheaper but you'll have to check the sizes as I can't remember which one fits

I have a Autohomes, I removed the the original tank but I might put it back in one day. You can't empty them fully. I prefer a portable 5 gallon tank under my sink. I take that to the water tap instead of the van.....good exercise and I can't be arsed to put everything away when I'm on site just to fill the tank.....

I thought about an underslung tank but using the van 4 days a week as my accommodation it would have frozen solid during those bitterly cold winters.
