I have a 1980 Devon and need a new handle for the sliding door, do I need the long or short type?
Thanks in advance.

Either will fit. I had a long type, but its snapped, so will be fitting the short type this weekend.

if you fit the short handle on a early van the inside of the handle needs cutting down or it will damage the paintwork on your door

Ah, thats interesting, I didn't know that about earlier vans. Hopefull I will be fine fitting the short handle to my 1992 T25.
Your right, here's the result of a short handle on an early sliding door..

Funnily enough that's exactly how mine looks, just couldn't remember which way round the date/handle size went as the van is in the garage and I couldnt get to it.
Cheers for the help.
Re: Which sliding door handle?
either trim down the end of the later shorter handle so it cant damage paintwork, or fit the correct harder to get hold of longer handle, if you fit the late plastic seal to the early handle it removes all the slop and then its just as good as the shorter handle
