No cold idle?

Post by KINGPRAWN »

I have a 2.1 DJ that is running like a dream, starts on the button, pulls like a train, smooth as you like and as good as you could hope for on fuel!....but on initial start up it will not idle until it's run for aprox 1 minute then all is peachy.....any ideas??? Thanks
in too deep to quit now....

Not much help but I've run into the same problem recently. Also a DJ, also runs perfectly. However sometimes it doesn't want to idle when cold, have to give it a tiny bit of throttle to keep it going until it gets warm. In my case it only occurs very intermittently so a bit hard do to diagnose. I have suspicion about bad ground or connection somewhere..

Are you depressing the accelerator down fully once before you start?
From what I remember this resets the fast idle cam or something like that.

I have a DG Rob, and mine is struggling to tick over on low revs. I found out how to engage the choke prior to starting, depressing the pedal just before, this in turn does indeed engage the choke, but revs sound a little high for a choke. Will try and reset by putting foot to floor in the morning before starting engine, see if they resets things.
