T25 - sliding door track (1981 RHD)

Post by md2004 »

The track that sits under the cover just below the side window has a chunk rusted out of it, the slider mechanism turns sideways there as you pull the door open, and then it drops off the track. Our local garage (usually very reliable) reckon the metal is too soft (""pooh" metal" they called it) to be able to weld a section back in.

Anyone know where we can buy a track? Or if there is a different way around this problem?

Ta in advance for any help ...

I have seen a seller on German eGay that sells these, and many other hard to get body parts. Be warned though, they are not cheap.

Find someone else to weld it if it is rusted. Only problem with them they are galvanised which makes welding a little bit more tricky. Best put a picture up, there is supposed to be a cut out in the track to allow the door to be removed. It could just be the the nylon guide is worn out.

We're in N Norfolk if that makes any difference to anyone ... ?
The bit that seems to be missing is only about a third of the way along the track, kind of not where I'd expect them to expect you to take the door off ...

Will post s pic, but am away a week.

Thanks for all the interest so far guys.
