Well my season is rolling to an end. My work is very seasonal so am planning a relaxing family holiday in Jan/Feb time.
Wanting warmth, relaxation & chilling with maybe abit of sightseeing. Prefer places with abit of culture.
Thinking Eygpt but never been.
What's your thoughts/recommendations?
we are leaving for a month down under next thursday. typical though, just as a heatwave comes in we are leaving. canaries is a good place to go, warm all year round and lots to see. have fun where ever you end up though.
We went to Egypt in February (mind the sharks ) it was very nice, it wasn't too hot, possibly could have been a little hotter, the swimming pools were "fresh". Great snorkelling and diving. Think I might go back this year as well.
I didn't like Egypt that much. The ancient stuff is amazing, but if you're after beaches and relaxation there are better places. Got bored of the food, too.
What are the crowds like in Winter? Have a fear of massive queues, in dark passageways, stinking of damp & pi$$!
Would the sights be wasted on a 7 & 9 year olds? They are bright but have their limits of talking & reading, prefer seeing & doing!!
Anyone done a Nile cruise? Or is that a real old folks option? I've heard food poisoning can be a lottery!
Sri Lanka wins for me every time. I worked there for a few months back in the 90's and it is the most beatiful place in the world, wonderful people and fairly inexpensive. You can now go to the east and north side of the island which was the war zone.
Yes, it's a long flight, but worth it.
Egypt ? nice to see the antiquities but everyone I know that has been there gets food poisoning....
