hi all, I am currently in a campsite in crowboroug, nr tumbridge wells with wife and baby The van has been cutting out while idling late and today it stalled at the traffic lights restarted but then cut out when running2 mins later now wont start at all.
it has fuel but the fuel filter seems to be dry. I tried putting the inlet pipe to the fuel pump into a can of fuel but it still wont start. Do the fuel pumps go on these vans often? It a watercooled 1.9.
it drove us all the wayvfrom cornwsll and broke down at the campsite! Here
suposef to be going to france on tues!
any help on how to test or what it could be would be appreciated. Are the fuel pumps ok to change?

If you are sure the pump is at fault then renew it. An easy job but be carefull you don't loose the pump pedastal

Having fitted one for a friend the other day I can vouch for the quality too, takes about an hour including double checking, cleaning everything and tooling up afterwards. Tools required are a 13mm spanner and whatever to remove/replace the fuel line clips oh and a dob of grease in the pump pedestal, the pump comes with the gaskets but the upper (solid) one isn't as good as the original if that's still useable.
