Thats weird, very early dash and steering wheel and a late interior. No cab carpet, and I would of thought the seats would be different too. All the Westy Jokers I have seen have had both diff locks too but that doesnt mean none of them just had the rear locker like on this van. The rear heater matrix has a blanking plate on it too for some reason and its also got the grey lower trim on and not the trim round the windows that should go with it. Good looking bus though.

Hi,
Off what i can judge it has been a kombi which is rebuilt to a westy.
He does not write that its a original westy, he writes it has a original westfalia interior.
The standard glovebox was used on transporters and kombi's till the end of the production in 92.

And yes, its not a westfalia colour! But its a beautifull van!

Always puzzled me; mines a 91 year 16" Joker. It has an all metal dash. It also has an ABS 'light' on the dash pod, though has never had ABS; I dont even think it was an option for 16's.

I have never seen an Atlantic or California conversion done on a 16" base van of any year, only ever Joker pops and hightops.

I can only think that because the 16" package could be added to any of the base syncro variants, somebody ordering a 16" version to be camperised would probably start with the Kastenwagen panel van as the base vehicle and then option away all the extras he could afford.

If you were asking VW to make a T25 Syncro 16 Westfalia Joker you were into special vehicle territory and hence some of the quirks the 16" campers seem to exhibit.

Either that or mines a fake too

Can't believe vw didn't keep figures. Would like to know what mine cost new. As the only factory option I'm missing is abs. Must have been a wealthy guy who ordered it. Yours must have been a fortune too Mark

Are you sure? Mine is a '91 Multivan but was built in early '90 and stayed in the factory for over a year before it went out to a dealer. Do you have a VW Classic bith cert for it?

You can get later westys that arent California or Atlantic.
Theres plenty of later westys that are just normal joker/club joker.
From what I can gatherthe California/Atlantic were ordered through the dealer, however I think you could buy other models direct from westfalia
Herr Boltze would be the man to ask.

Never got round to it Andrew, suppose i should one day. Might throw up some surprises  I do have the original German log-book (equivalent V5) somewhere though.

Good point about Mr Boltze. You ever come across any Syncro 16 Atlantics or Californias Simon?
