Back from vanfest! think i bought more than i realised!

Post by lloydy »

Had a great time, Hats off to Mr Ghia. He put a lot of work into it, and i think it turned out well.
Lots of syncro's on display, and was good to put some more faces to user names. Sounds like jes has a good van coming over.
Some of the prices on the stalls was crazy. £190 for a glass window for the sliding door  £200 for double glazed tail gate glass  Most amazing though was £19500 for a bog standard 2WD caravelle (well it did have painted drums)
Got chatting to a American Guy, turned out he was one of the organisers of syncro de mayo(he has fame as being the man was bought a RHD tristar syncro and converted it to LHD  ). He was with a guy some of you may have heard of, tristar eric. Both top people, and they gave me a t-shirt

Tristar Eric had a set of four 16" hub cap things, at £120 quid.

Saw a RHD twin headlamp grill for £400.

knackered rev counter dash £130

I didnt see any bargains.

NOS rear bumper £170

I only bought two stickers and a green kettle.

Hey - I saw the dash clocks and asked too - he offered me 120 Jed for them so I must have had a kinder face!! No the best deal he offered me was a pair of Hella Commet 550`s for £40, I picked one up and found the back hanging off with the plastic split almost completely around it - I said `Whats this?` - and he said `call it twenty` - `TWENTY!!!` - I walked off.

However, to be fair to all Mike did a fantastic job, thanks to Lee who fixed my vans difflocks with a bit of pipe (hats off - top chap) and their were some lovely people there and I enjoyed it. Just wish I had longer because I had a do to go to in the evening so had to cut it short. I will go for the weekend next year I think

Good to meet you Lloyd.

The 20,000 caravelle was lovely at half the price!!
I liked the 17,500 Tristar!

Bought plenty of junk & some black seats.

Second or thirds, all Mikes work/planning. had alittle play but chickened out a couple of bits (as I'm sure SilverB will be along to tell everyone "He's like that" )
Did anyone, except Mike, do the skips?

was good to meet you guys up there. had a great weekend, thursday night free camp in a naughty place with my boy left me speachless at the views in the morning. felt this year was a lot less people there, lots of spaces around the camp ground and henning mentioned it too.

think bargains at vanfest are a thing of the past made a few folks fair offers on some part only to be turned down.

i know i`m biased but feel the syncro display was the biggest crowd pleaser there and was glad i didn`t break anything. lets hope for a better turn out next year.

:ok

lee.

A number of people I spoke to did not like the new pricing system, especially for the charging of the evening entertainment.

The day car park I think was larger than last year, perhaps there were more day visitors, less campers. Plus the weather forecast was duff for about a week before.

Ya big girl's bouse! "Yay and verily I did plough my own furrow...with the front bumper!"

Definite crowd pleaser

I'm just glad the old thing didn't break in half on landing
