Returned safely!

Post by margaret »

Just returned from a fantastic trip alone with my seven year old as co navigator; Armed with little more than a belief in hope over experience and a new 1.9 engine off we set in early July. Belgium Swizerland Lake Garda Venice Slovenia and Croatia. Got as far as Zadar and the turbo failed ; all part of the experience though. Not only did the local residents diagnose the problem they supplied us with pancakes and coffee whilst we waited.

Went as far as Dubrovnik and onto Korcula there high in the hills met a fellow brit in a t25 who had driven from Oslo!! ( never heard of club80-90 tho I told him what he was missing!) Night ferry to Ancona the dawn over the sea was something amazing.

Though the dolomites ( how that van struggled but it didnt give up) and onto Rome. Leaning tower of Pisa a wow with my boy! onto Genoa and into southern France .
Wonderful experience Well done that van! Thanks to all on here for the list of spares the help and support! thanks to vw ellite for my new engine (oh and thanks to my boss for letting me go for two months!)

(Sorry no pics as despite following instructions on the wiki can only post a copy of the img code not the pic itself)

It sounds like a fabulous adventure Margaret, how long were you away?

What a great trip you must have had :ok .....re Ancona Italy ....one of my Dads postings during WW2 (Sergant in the REME) after listening for years to all his (happy) wartime stories we finally went there on a family holiday and within a few hours all the Italian he'd learnt came back to him and we visited all the places/streets he knew. As an only child I've always joked that I'd got siblings in Italy (after all he was young man and spent almost five years posted between Italy & Africa). Tears in my eye's now .......thanks for the memory.. :)
Its on the road to Nowhere, no one passes by.
