In most respects I'm loving the 2.1 swap but there is a little problem that's nagging, I'm hoping those that have done the same swap might have a tip to help me.
The DG was replaced with a DJ keeping the 1.9 box. I used the 1.9 carb, inlet manifold coil etc. but used the 2.1 distributor and the alternator.
The problem I'm having is that the engine keeps stalling on braking usually when cold, but can happen when warn when braking at junctions with the engine warm.
I also suspect the engine idles quite slowly ~700 rpm.
Any tips appreciated.

Turn the tickover up for starters, around 950 i have mine.
I've used the 2.1 dizzy but I was told to block off the second vacuum pipe spigot, the one nearest the back of the van, and use the other.
Also the timing needs to be 10deg BTDC on a 2.1 If I remember correctly so check that.
Mine has been like this for over 3 yrs without a problem, engine wise anyway!

Also make sure you have no new air leaks on the inlet side before you get the mixture checked

Thanks both for the responses.
I've not had chance to play tonight, but I did swap the vacuum hose round on the distributor (I had it on the front port not the rear one as suggested) to test out on my way home from work. It made no difference.
I'd previously checked for an induction leak around the inlet to engine gaskets, but I'll try around the base of the carb and the vacuum pipes as soon as I can.
Timing set to 5° per the Haynes and wiki (for unleaded).

When you say get the mixture checked, what are you suggesting, do I need a trip to the local Krypton tuning centre (do they still exist) or is it easy enough just to fiddle with an idle screw?

Not really, get to your local motter and ask him to check the exhaust gas on the van, if he can tell you the o2 reading that will tell you if you have a leak.
and if the CO (mixture) is OK.
Timing MUST be set to 10 deg for the higher octane fuel that is used in the 2.1 being a high compression engine.
if this turns out a blind alley then an electrical fault can be assumed
