Charge cooler in a syncro

Post by lloydy »

They seem to be fitted where the air filter is, obviously due to the turbo being there. Does this then make the snorkel redundant? As from what I see the air filter is moved to the other side? or am I mis understanding the use of the snorkel in relation to wading ect?
And for the charge cooler itself, what is the trade off with having one? Do you just fit it, and then that's it? Or do you have to adjust fueling to compensate for denser air? Will it give you better economy and more power, and will it make the engine run cooler?
Think that's enough questions
Thanks

these look free compared to uk prices but import costs bump it up quite a bit.

now my tdi is running sweet i may just bite the bullet and order one.

Is it a good thing to ad to an engine? By that I mean, will it help the engine stay cooler last longer? Not after more HP ( well maybe a bit) just something that will help the engine, maybe get a bit more mpg

cooling the air from the turbo is a must really. whether you do it air / air or air to water is personal choice. air to water is more effective in a rear or mid engine vehicle but more complex and more to go wrong. air to air is a simple system and although not as effective if done correctly is likely to be sufficient for our needs.

i guess hard factual data of both systems would be needed to prove whether the extra expence and hassle of the water air system is worth it. ?????
