Hi All
The red low water light keeps flashing although water tank is full. Temp gauge not working. Is this an indicator that engine is over heating? . If it is, what are the probable causes pleas.

The temp gauge is worked by the temp sender on the thermostat housing (yellow with a red trace wire and brown wire )
check that the connection is good or replace the sender
The red flashing light if on constant, is a sender fault located on the header tank.
check connections or replace the sender.

Also try cleaning up the earth crowns next to the fuse box. It soted out a whole host of annoying dashboard indications / lights not working which I was getting including the flashing coolant light. I kept thinking it was the dash multiplug giving the problems, wished I'd cleaned up the crowns much earlier.
Easy way to do it is to drop the glovebox down, remove the screw in the centre of each crown, then you remove the spade connectors and get cleaning with wome fine wet and dry.
Even if it doesn't fix your problem, it can't hurt.

It's also worth checking the multiway connector on the back of the dash / instrument panel as well. I had a intermittent oil pressure LED that turned out to be that connector, the copper tracks tarnish over the years and lead to poor contacts there too.
