Bodywork repairs recommendation- Manchester area

Post by peteandnero »

Hi, now the engine seems to be sorted for the time being I must focus my funds and time onto bodywork repairs. Can anyone recommend someone good in the Manchester area for my Westfalia Joker 1.6TD?

cheers, Pete

How much work needs doing. Always remember that the rust wont be as localised as you first think.

I think I'm pretty realistic about how much work needs done; as you say probably much more than I can see. Probably both rear wings and maybe the NS lower rear quarter, plus seam rot all round. I used to have a 1979 Devon Bay and through a series of totally shabby but well disguised welding jobs done by a local guy, the van became unrepairable. It was really sad but now I really want this van as a keeper. I got a MIG welder for my 40th but the metalwork and taking this on as first job seems too daunting. Maybe I'll sell the welder to finance some of the work!
