Re: Syncro Bay
That was the first questions that I posted when I joined the forum so I'll gladly pass on the info I received.
The prototype syncros were bays http://www.syncronauts.org.uk/syncro-te ... ncro-story" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This chap at least started to shoe horn syncro chuff into a Beetle so I guess anything's possible. http://www.volksrods.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18345" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you type baja kombi/bus into google images you get lots of mean looking bays show up. I think they're popular down under.
Hope this helps

No ...... but its possible to fit Syncro bits to a Bay body shell with lots of modifications!
This is a Bay Syncro and is one of the prototypes used and can be seen in the Wolfsburg Museum. Underneath this one is very different to a T3

Re: Syncro Bay
That looks like it has had a bay grafted onto a syncro to me.
Shame we cant see more of the conversion, especially inside the cab area.
Confirms what i thought though, syncro is wider than the bay.
Bit of arch flaring required.
There is another video of him cutting up the syncro, so it has been done before.

Which bit of the Syncro do you think the Bay has been grafted onto?

Re: Syncro Bay
It looks like he has grafted the bay floor pan to the syncro somehow.
You can see the sill line of the bay in the middle section and front section it contnues through.
There seems to be a vee shape between what would be the syncro sill area and the bay sill area accounting for the difference in width of the 2 vans. sebastions second video 2 min11 sec shows it nicely.
That would explain why the wheel arches are so high i suppose.
Cant work out how he is cooling the engine as there is only the front bay air grille.

Re: Syncro Bay
I do own 2 syncro's and have been under them once or twice, but never to look at what would be involved in grafting a bay on to a syncro.
How do you think he did it. ?

Re: Syncro Bay
Amazing what you can get at ALDI these days.
No idea how he done it, but why are you warming to the idea?
Whole load of work, pain & expense to end up with something not road legal, no where near as good as a T3 syncro & a novelty at shows?
Stop warming to her ideas & give them the cold-shoulder!
