Wild camping East Anglia

We're out and about in the van next week. Booked onto a site for the BH weekend but I'd like to find a beach we can pull up at and wild camp (doesn't everyone!). Anyone found some good spots on the East Anglian coast?

I'm thinking somewhere like Sizewell is off the beaten track and we could get away with it there. Walberswick and Southwold would be nice but I think we would struggle to find somewhere out of sight.

Any recommendations either near the coast of away from it,

You could try Shingle Street, off the beaten track nice deserted bit of beach with a small car park probably get away with it there. Sizewell also has a car park near the beach cafe can be busy though. Also there is a picnic spot nr Iken between Snape and Orford that might be worth a try. I think Aldeburgh has banned overnighting on the sea wall near the marina.

I often see people camped up in the Horsey - Waxham area. Not sure you're "supposed to" but I used to take my caravan to Horsey beach carpark (they may lock that this time of year). I think as long as you don't cause a disturbance or leave a mess then why should people care?!?
I am off to Derbyshire this afternoon for the night and back later tomorrow. I'm planning to just wild camp. Will see what I find.

just back from there , alderburg has a sign saying no overnighting or whatever, couldnt be arsed to check the tro's so gave it a miss.southwold we stay on the bit of parking in front of the sole bay pub or the street that runs down the side of it , there are loads of spots in the town.

Thetford Forest has loads of off-road spots - the tracks off the roads are numbered and they usually have clearings at the end of them. You are most likely to be bothered by deer and the occasional dog-walker. If you are lucky you might see a small herd of white deer if you are near Brandon - my friend often sees them early in the morning when she walks her dogs - there is even a white stag.

Ahh yes, We spent the day there and I can imagine you can get away with it overnight.

I;ve done a bit of wild camping when it is just me, seems easy, get back from pub late, go to bed, up early and move on. With a family and putting up the roof it all becomes a bit more obvious that you are camping and would attract more attention. Also, if you had to move off in a hurry it wouldn't be so easy.

There are also quite a few quiet car parks in the forest around Dunwich - but I am not sure if you could get away with it or not as there are a few wardens about.
