Re: Blowing exhaust
Poor performance and noise basically. Try starting engine up and putting your hand over final exhaust pipe. If theres a leak, you'll know for sure as normally engine will go real quiet if you do that. Any blowing will be evident.

Re: Blowing exhaust
I think I may have a blowing exhaust now, my 1.9DG sounds like an Aircooled Beetle when I hear it with the window down. Will try the hand over the exhaust pipe end, but the sound is only evident when the engine is under strain, in other words when I put my foot down.
The exhaust looks to me like the original, so its high time to replace it I guess, and reading other threads about rusted, rounded off nuts/bolts, not looking forward to it.

Re: Blowing exhaust
Micky is yours a 1.9 DG?
If so watch out for the 90 degree elbows. NLA and look after the tail pipe you'll need it as I couldn't find a syncro one

Re: Blowing exhaust
Correct Phil, DG yes.
The weather is looking better today so plan on getting underneath, and inspecting the exhaust. Also I will be removing the new petrol pump I fitted last summer so I can pack the pedestal with grease as I didn't do this when I fitted it, and have a hunch it may well be the pump making the sound I think is the exhaust? Certainly could be related to me running out of fuel recently. I may not of ran out of fuel, and could of been the pump. Hope not, but will grease it nevertheless.
