Sea Barn Camping site Weymouth

Post by getunder »

In the Weymouth area with the popular East Fleet site and a nearby site seemingly fully booked out for all summer holidays I was able to get in at Sea Barn Campsite a few more miles west of Weymouth on Abbotsbury road ( left at a mini roundabout) A fair number of non-electric sites available at least on Monday.8th,9th and 10th August while I was there. Probably electric pitches also. Cannot vouch for weekends though . Fairly rapid turnover of pitches so you can move around if you wish to get a flatter area and the breakfast time sea views to die for over the Fleet, Chesil Bank and Portland if you can get in on the triangular site near the shop as you go in but a bit exposed in high winds and it was blowing a hooly while we were there. Excellent and modern showers and loos. Childrens play area. Fees non electric £21.00 p.n. which sounds standard these days and cheap compared to Haven sites. A shop but dining facilities only at adjacent site. Fair number of flattish areas but would advise some lifting chocks and also a pitch retainer notice while away during the day to keep it.
Nearest to Weymouth is the Wyke Regis site but from what I have read would not be first choice but might suit some. Also as suggested on the Forum before the Pub at Fleet at beginning of Portland rCauseway takes overnighters very cheaply and while passing it looked a reasonable place to stop overnight . Beware 2012, its the Olympic sailing site.
