Two questions with image

Red Arrow - Should this hole have something in it? I noticed that it has a thread which suggests that it should. Also, moving parts inside also suggests this.

Blue Arrow - I have noticed small air bubbles travelling down this fuel line on occasion. Could this be the reason behind my lumpy tick-over?

Any advice, much appreciated.

Umm..I'm guessing its a diesel..

Red Arrow looks like the bell housing inspection hole to set and check the timing, its is usually plugged.

Can't see a blur arrow? the green arrow looks like the fuel line, my diesel also had air circulating around here..

Nice one, cheers. I'll try to find a plug.

Yeah, it is a diesel, 1.6 TD.

plug

the plug is the same one as fitted to the vw 020 gearbox these were fitted to mk 1 2 3 golfs etc. look on the end of the box for a green round tin cover to identify you have the correct gearbox there are loads of golfs in your local scrap yard i bet, it has a m36x1.5 thread and should be natural coloured. i've got the end of a walking stick in mine?
