Whilst poking and prodding around the engine of my 87 Multivan which is fitted with a 1.6 TD engine, I noticed a couple of wires that look like they should be connected to sensors as some of my dash lights and temp gauge don't work whilst my glow plug light on the dash never extinguishes.
The wires that come from the loom are detailed below and kindly ask if anyone can advise if they are correct and/or what the should be connected to.
Red - Glow plug connector on engine block.
Yellow - Oil pressure switch.
Blue/black - Disconnected.
Red/yellow - Hose connector at rear of block below cylinder head.
Brown - Hose connector on top of block below cylinder head.
Blue/white - Sensor on cylinder head at rear of block?
There is another cable that goes to a solenoid on the diesel pump which appears to be correct.
blue/white - temperature sender to glow plug relay (T pin)
red/yellow - temperature sender to gauge
Blue/black - oil pressure sender on cylinder head for low revs oil pressure switch
Yellow - oil pressure sender above filter for high revs oil pressure switch
The brown one is likely to be an earth for the sender unit, but I can't be sure without the diagrams.
You're glowplug light staying on permanently might mean it's earthed somewhere, or the relay is faulty. If the blue/white is not connected to the T pin, it will cycle the plugs for the maximum time. Hopefully in your case, they are are not permanently on.
I found this somewhere detailing the engine wiring but cannot identify either the (low) oil pressure switch or the glow plug temp sensor so I have took a photo and hope someone can advise me on the connections, as I ave six cables in the bundle but only 5 connection points on the engine.
