Whilst driving back from Bugjam I got a flat just coming on to the motorway at Northampton. When I tried to put the spare on I realised the studs from my Porsche alloys would not fit my original hubs. 5 hours later a mobile tyre fitter came and put a new Goodyear on and charged me over £280 for the priviledge!!
Anyway, I've sworn thats not happening again and decided to get a Porsche spare wheel or even better a space saver spare. Does anyone know if the space saver would be able to take the weight etc of my fully loaded, 70mm lowered Westy?? If not does anyone have any suggestions please.
Space saver tyres are smaller than some motorcyle tyres, designed for small cars to make boots bigger and to be driven only short distances.
Is your van a small car?

I would think there's plenty of modern cars out there which have space-saver spares which have a kerb weight of 1500-1600kg, which is comparable with the T25. Don't know how much the Westie conversion adds to that.

I'd still rather have a proper spare though.
My camper weighs 2 tonnes (official) and can carry another 400 kg of crap... I rest my case.
I made tyres for twenty years and I made these convenient spares once when working for goodyear.
I wouldn't fit them to a wheel barrow.
They are there to save space not save lives. Goodyear soon dropped manufacture of them

As I said, I still think they're stupid, The reason not to have one is they are stupid, not because you wouldn't be able to find one that was load-rated for a T25. I've not tried to find one though, because they are stupid
The question I always want to ask the person that came up with them is... "If you've fully utilised the extra space gain in the boot from fitting a spacesaver, then get a puncture, what do you do with the original wheel?"
