Leisure battery rating

Post by Brian1 »

I am planning to replace a 45Ah leisure battery with a 75aH leisure battery. My alternator is only rated at 45 Amps. Am I likely to run into any problems?

No.. none

But don't rely on the alternator all the time as alternators don't charge leisures fully
whenever you can, charge the leisure battery with a phased charger, this will charge the leisure up 100%

available from Lidl for about £15

Thanks that's good news.
My charger has two settings standard and gel. I don't think my battery is a gel type. It doesn't say gel anywhere on it. But it is a leisure deep cycle battery. Presumably I should just use standard setting? Any ideas?
Many thanks
Brian

Standard charger... standard setting
A phased charger like the one above is more suitable, so keep your eye out for one

Lidl have them in now and again, usually twice a year
search for Lidl battery charger or Lidl Tronic battery charger... E-bay might be fruitful

But remember Lidle sell at £15.00

Thanks for your help Kev. Varta LFD75 battery now in place but I haven't quite managed to clamp it properly. I think I need to get some plastic strips for the base which unfortunately didn't come with the battery. I have placed a wanted ad as my local garage doesn't have any.
