Re: flashing oil light and buzzer
Oil light/buzzer if the system is working correctly is due to low oil pressure. There are two a low revs sensor and a high revs sensor it is known as the DOP (dynamic oil pressure) warning system. If it went off at speed then it sounds like your high speed DOPWS. there is loads on the wiki.

Filter and oil changed two weeks ago I used 10w40 semi syn oil but also installed a lighter socket and was pulling a few wires round the back of the dash.

Ditch the semi-pathetic ... 15w/40 MINERAL oil is what they need. The wires you need other advice on ... many people here are electrical experts, I'm not.

Grounding that wire should have stopped the buzzer, so this indicates that it is a wiring fault not an actual oil pressure fault. My guess would be you disturbed something when fitting the ciggy lighter socket. Have a look at the ribbon cable connections behind the dash.
