temp gauge module 43
Right my temp gauge has never worked looked at the wiki and went to do the short test removing module 43 from the fuse box. One prob it is not there!!! anyway shorted the terminals and the guage moved straight up. So the question is where the hell can i get module 43 from, as i take it that this is the problem!!!!

Re: temp gauge module 43
First, your non functioning fuel gauge is not caused by module 43 missing. The module checks your coolant level and, if it is low, the module 43 triggers the Red LED in the temperature gauge to start flashing- that is all it does - monitors coolant level. You should be able to get one from a VW service agent and there is an equivalent module 42 that can also be used. These modules frequently appear on EBAY much cheaper than available form VW.
Your problem is the the temeperature sender in the thermostat housing or the wiring, connections, etc to it. Check the connection carefully and the condition of the terminals and wires that are connected to the terminals. If they appear OK touch them together or link them with a piece of wire and switch the ignition on to check the gauge needle rises. If it does you need a new sensor.

Re: temp gauge module 43
I had already changed the temp sensors or what i thought was the temp sensors. Two little screw in terminals on the sides of the thermostat housing? still didnt move the only thing that i havn't changed is the sensor facing the front of the van what is this? Does anyone haveny pics that would help me identify what is what!!!! when i touched the two terminals the needle does rise. I thought module 43 had a feed to the sensor so with it being missing thought this could be the problem?

Re: temp gauge module 43
Im starting to get frustrated now been on this all day again!!!! Still cannot get it working, im starting to think maybe the wires are not going to the right terminals. My engine is a 1.9 AEF, i have a blue and white wire going to a sensor on top of the cylinder head, then yell/red one going to a sensor with a pin head on the thermostat housing then on the opposite side of the housing a matching sensor with a brown/red wire. is this right as i keep reading that the temp sensor in on the block not the head? Also my glow plug does not go out until the engine starts it runs the whole 30 sec cycle which as i understand is connected. Please does anyone have pics as im gonna start pulling my hair out soon!!!!
