gearbox out or engine out ?
haynes says box, but I'm used to bays splits and bugs where you always take the engine out
whats the quickest ?
2.0 air cooled, new clutch, whats easiest

How long did it take you to change the clutch via the 'engine out' method then?
How easy was it to drop the engine?
I usually go down the 'gearbox out' route.

disconnect wiring, accelerator cable, servo pipe on the topside
fuel pipe, heat exchanger cables + pipes, starter wire underneath
the 4 bolts on the support bar and the 4 engine to box bolts
lower on the jack and pull backwards
chock the flywheel, change clutch
reverse all the stuff above
