Campernutz Sliders

Post by slobbo »

Ian has been busy producing new stuff. I was there yesterday and he bought out a set of his new Rock sliders. They are strong, powder coated and have been designed to fit in the jacking points but allow the use of a Hi Lift jack in situ. They are locked into place in the jacking points using a bracket which bolts onto the end of the tubes which are inserted into the jacking points. Here are a few pictures. Not sure how many Ian has in at the moment but I bet they go quick.

Those look nicely engineered unlike much of the flimsier ones I have seen on Ebay. When I get a new van I will certainly be wanting some of these. :ok

Yep, saw a set fitted to a van the other day, much better than the flimsy ones on Germany ebay. Locator tabs to hold the hi-lift in place as well :ok

Why powder coat? You can touch up paint but you cant touch up powder coat .....

I'm not a fan of powder coating, especially when it's something thats going to get bashed about, scratched and chipped.
It doesn't grip to its surface which is why it needs a charge to make it stick, its like a tight fitting shell which rust creeps underneath, then before you know it you have chunks of it falling off, you only have to look at most westfalia kitchen panels to see this in action.
Would be much better to paint.
As Syncropaddy says, at least you could touch up any chips sctratches ect..

At least they look a good bit stronger than the rubbish you usually see along the sills of an old Disco.

Unless they were galvanized, any paint is going to get raked off. Polyester shrinks then cracks and peels (see any LR bullbars for evidence) and powder does have a nasty habit of chipping as it's so brittle.

Nice bright heavy galv - bingbling! It's not just for scaffold poles...
